Description
Tefzel ™ ETFE 280 is a premium fluoroplastic resin available intranslucent, 2.5-mm (0.1-in) pellets. Compared with other grades ofTefzel ™ , its most unique features are relatively low flow rate,greatly enhanced flex life, and resistance to environmentalstress.
Tefzel ™ ETFE 280 and the other Tefzel ™ fluoroplastics are meltprocessible, modified copolymers of ethylene andtetrafluoroethylene. They are high performance resins that can beprocessed at relatively high rates, compared with fluorocarbonresins. They aremechanically tough and offer an excellent balanceof properties.
Tefzel ™ ETFE 280 is preferred for applications where otherthermoplastics are lacking in mechanical toughness; broad thermalcapability; ability to meet unusual thermal, mechanical, andchemical environmental extremes; or limited by fabricatingproblems. Examples are components and linings for the chemicalindustry and molded parts with metal inserts of thick sections foruse at high temperatures.
Properly processed products made from neat Tefzel ™ ETFE 280 areinert to most solvents and chemicals, hydrolytically stable, andweather-resistant. Recommended upper service temperature is 150 °C(302 °F); useful properties are retained at cryogenic ranges. Thelevel and stability of dielectric properties are excellent, and theflame rating is V-0 by the UL94 method. They are resistant toenvironmental stress cracking and have outstanding impact strength,cut-through, and abrasion resistance. High-energy radiationresistance meets IEEE 383, and the resin is approved for nuclearpower plant use.

Tefzel ™ ETFE 200 is ideal for many end products, includingelectrical components, such as sleeving, coil forms, sockets,connectors, and switches; lab ware, such as tubing, valves,containers, and dishes; battery or instrument components thatrequire chemical inertness; chemical service items, such as valvecomponents, seal glands, pipe plugs, and corrugated tubing; andfilm.
